I went to Anca's parents' apartment and enjoyed visiting with them. We went out and ate mici (spelling?) which are little grilled sausages. I only ate 2 small ones, but they were VERY tasty, and I really enjoyed them. After that we went back to their apartment and visited for quite a long time. I enjoyed bringing them little presents. I never expected the miniature tennis ball keychain that said U.S. Open to make such a hit with Anca's father. He was so tickled with it and put his keys on it immediately.
We talked forever about past, present, Romania's entry into the EU, and future life in Romania. I was really fascinated by all their comments and insights into life here in Romania. They were also very helpful in explaining (or trying to explain!) the money system to me. I was happy when they said it's even confusing for them!
Anca's mom (Naty) had prepared sarmale, and we ate a few of those. They are SO delicious. They are cabbage rollups stuffed with ground pork and rice. They are SO delicious that it's hard to be polite and not eat twenty of them!!!! I did manage to control myself though.
What a fun evening! Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Dan!
