Original game plan was for me to go out to the house and have lunch with the kids, but I decided it would be more of a special treat just to take the two of them to McDonald's. Their American "moms" (Bethany and Angela) went along for translating (thank goodness). Also enjoyed meeting Jannes, the Dutch young man who is here doing a six month internship with Livada. So we all walked over to McDonald's after church service.
The kids LOVE McDonald's and actually both got the Happy Meal! I thought they're a bit old for the Happy Meal, but they love the toy that comes with them. I guess the giveaway right now is some cool pen that they all love! Couldn't get over the way Adi chowed down on the fries. He absolutely loves them. They accidentally gave us an extra order of fries, so after he finished his first order of fries, he patiently waited to see if anyone else would eat the extra fries! I guess the kids all LOVE ketchup, and he devoured his ketchup. You have to pay for ketchup and mayo here.
He's a great kid even though he is a little rough around the edges. I couldn't get over how small ALL the kids are. The internet makes everyone look heavier, so they're much smaller looking in person. I have a feeling the orphanage food wasn't too nutritious!
I look forward to getting together with them again and will most likely see them on Tuesday.
